Kumiga needs more playing time. And whenever there seems to be a golden opportunity to play Kuminga, in goes J Green, etc. Since Kerr doesnt seem to favor developing the young core, (but somehow expects them to get better without time on the court), I agree with the trade. I think its a sad trade because the fault, in my opinion, to Kumigas lack of development, lies mostly in Kerr. Never, never favors the young guns. But there is a Faustian bargain in that. I really dont understand Kerrs logic in allotting playing time. Kuminga and J Green are equalish, in my opinion, right now. But there is not further upside with Jamichael Green. Kuminga has very promising potential. Why in the logical world does it make sense to favor the player whos upside is limited, over the playing Kuminga and investing in a potential grand player. The logic scales make no sense. Trade Kuminga, (throw in Wiseman for a weekend BJ) and we're good. I believe Kuminga will flourish elsewhere. But as Ive said before, I'm not sure whether Luca would have played well and curried Kerr's favor in "Warrior basketball" either.

With regards to Kuminga, it's extremely unfortunate he didn't start to get more time in the rotation last regular season. And if they had moved Wiseman in the offseason, Kuminga could likely've gotten substantial minutes at the 3/4 next to the backup big they'd acquired in the trade or in free agency. Seeing him cover B.I 1-on-1 against the Pels showed he has elite traits and should've been used like Oubre when we had him as a point-of-attack defender.

With the trade, it came out in the last 48 hours that the Jazz intends to retain Markkanen and Clarkson but would be willing to move off the rest of their pieces for the right price. I'm mapping out trade possibilities for a smaller exchange if they continue to slide in the standings, but not really sure how anyone views Wiseman at the moment outside of the Bay. However, a compact package of Wise, Moody, and PBJ could be intriguing for a rebuilding franchise.

No worries, it's under the Trade Proposal heading and above the Utah guys described.

But in essence its:

The entire Dubs young core (excluding Poole) + 2 future unprotected 1st round picks

to Utah for

Lauri Markkanen, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Walker Kessler

This is an excellent article. The price is very steep but it’s the going rate.

If I could keep ONE player it would be PBJ. Mainly because I think he could take Klay’s spot by the time his contract is up. And in fact I believe Klay is an issue that will need to be dealt with at some point. I just don’t know how because Klay is too fragile to bench (Kerr feels like they will lose him mentally) and Klay keeps shooting them out of games.

I do think this trade keeps the Warriors competitive for the next 2-3 years and bridges from the eventual departure of Klay/Dray.

Great job.

Thanks Neo, appreciate it man

I agree, and honestly would be open to trading Klay and/or Dray at the deadline if there was a market for them. However, I don't think there is one. I have mapped out some trades that send Klay to Philly that allows the Sixers to salary dump Tobias to a Utah or San Antonio etc. However, I just don't see how the Sixers would want to pay anything on top of Tobias for what most likely is a lateral move for them.

Klay to the bench is a change that hopefully Jordan can push into motion just by proving to be a more competent defender than Thompson throughout the season. We're still in small sample size territory, but by the New Year, they'll have the defensive metrics and if Poole can prove to be at least equal with Klay on that end of the floor, it becomes a lot harder to justify keeping this starting/closing lineup as is.

This article had to take a ton of research and your passion is well noted.

Regarding Klay I’ve heard Kerr (can’t remember if it was on or off the record) won’t bench Klay because he feels that they’ll lose Klay mentally forever.

To me that means Klay is just too prideful and he’s got to step up and realize he’s not “that guy” from 5 years ago. And that’s ok. Adjustments can be made that keeps him in the starting line-up or as you say, if Poole is able to elevate his defensive play, then he can overtake Klay and enter the starting lineup on a permanent basis.

That trade proposal is an earthquake and although it’s a tough pill to swallow, it’s the BEST shot at maximing Steph’s championship aspirations.

Steph is the only timeline.

Lol yea, I originally started watching every minute of Jazz games a few weeks ago to find what trades would be ideal for them since all their players were playing way above their heads to start the season. Didn't originally intend it to be a Warriors-centric exercise though I've always wanted a way to steal Vanderbilt since he was so impactful in Minnesota last year. But Lauri is just something else. I've always liked him and had written an article about him being a steal for Cleveland last offseason. But I had no idea he was capable of playing at the level he is.

And you're absolutely right, Curry is the timeline. Klay may be the cancer at the moment of this team's chemistry. Kerr's approach sure seems like the cause of Klay's unhappiness being shared with the rest of the roster. Maybe Kevin Love his childhood homie will reach out and share some advice on what it's like to age gracefully and good it feels to embrace a role that benefits the ball club.
